A striking poster by the Dutch artist Ludwig Oswald Wenckebach in 1924, designed for the production of an avant-garde nocturnal play on the of the 70th anniversary lustrum of Leiden University. A lustrum is a 5 year occasion I believe. The university was founded in 1575.
Wonderful graphics, in what I call an expressionist style. Nicely framed and matted, the poster has been creased and folded prior to framing and the creases are visible, although not in any means distracting.
The frame has a few corner imperfections, please see the detailed photos.
