Offering a RARE pair of Mid 20th Century Chinese porcelain candle holders or candlesticks., made for Gump's, San Francisco. Each elephant is hand painted and is signed "Gump's" on the bottom. The elephants have a beautiful orange and metallic gold glaze. One is slightly darker than the other, as seen in photos. These elephants are loaded with traditional Chinese motifs, including tobacco leaves and peaches in the neck area, while the body of the elephant is adorned with Moroccan style designs with a heavy three dimensional Famille Rose enamelware glaze. Mid Century Chinese craftsmanship and hand painting porcelain at its finest.
