The hardcover art book with metallic silver tone laminated cover boards, with special round die-cut cover window is published by Prestel Verlag Publishing Ltd., edited by Stephane Acquin. printed in Canada in 2008 on the occasion of the exhibition " Warhol Live " at The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, De Young in partnership with The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh.
Andy Warhol 9 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, artworks, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is credited as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.
This beautifully produced volume presented to accompany the exciting exhibition reveals the myriad ways Warhol immersed himself in the music of his time. Tracing back to his introduction to music through the musical comedies, songs, and soundtracks of his youth, opening with his portraits of the great film stars of his childhood. Although never a musician himself, Warhol appropriated the imagery of Pop Music icon for some of his most arresting and important self portraits.
