This building is also referred to as the Dome of Soltanijey, a city in Iran. It is within a complex … more This building is also referred to as the Dome of Soltanijey, a city in Iran. It is within a complex of ruins which centers on the on the Mausoleum of the Mongol ruler Muhammad Khodabandeh.

The estimated 200 ton dome stands 161 feet tall from it's base. The main building was erected between 1302 and 1312 AD and may be the oldest double-shell dome in Iran.

It is one of the largest brick domes in the world. Unfortunately much of its interior decoration has been lost, but he interior still retains superb mosaics, faience and murals.

In the Muslim world the Dome of Soltaniyeh is ranked amongst the most important sights of the religion.
