The base, legs surround and top edging in near superb condition, the "only," imperfection is a couple of cracks in the seams of the woven portion of a few of the chocolate or tobacco colored squares, due to era, and the year fact that natural material dries over age and time, unless it is in a temperature controlled environment and treated by a simple restorative solution, much like wood is given polish to maintain wood not drying. Otherwise it is in superb condition. less

C1970's-80's: Vintage Original John Hutton Designed for Donghia rattan, bamboo and wicker wrapped , "Sanur," coffee or cocktail table.with natural colored, saddle leather strapped legs and corner joist, with dowel joinery throughout. Manufactures, now discontinues or NO LONGER in PRODUCTION. Item # 70021, Sanur Table Manufacturer's The leather is in superb condition, no cracks, tear or wear on them, as is the bamboo mainframe, frankly this table has stood the test of time throughout the duration of it's inception and roll-out period. These Donghia pieces were manufactured in indonesia, on the same island the other 2 collections of Donghia were, the first wave of introduction of the, Block Island Collection, as well as the Merbau Collection, including the same manufacture as the much coveted, and revered McGuire pieces are, prior to the Tsunami. This collection was introduced with woven wicker with the corresponding checkerboard themed top design. This collection was made in square, rectangular and round coffee, cocktail table format, including a square and round card table size, and side/end tables both square and round. Maker's mark branding is on the underside center of table, as last image indicates, branding the copyright and company name was the norm, prior to and and before the influx of manufacturer's trying to knock-off these coveted designs. Branding and protecting one's branding became a source of importance, Sourced from a South, Florida Estate, which has had the piece since its purchase via Designer. The checkerboard pattern has been a prevalent theme of design for Donghia in other collections, like the Madrid Tables introduced in the 1980's as well as the Paris Collection, with and without a checkerbaord themed top, as well as on some bar Stools, also introduced called the Paris Hall Collection. The whimsy and casual sophistication of this, is that one can play checkers and/or chess like an Alice in Wonderland theme, yet also be inclusive within any Palm Beach, California, Nautical, Boho Chic, and/or Hamptons-like interior setting. One of a kind and very rare to find this particular piece.
In superb condition, with, "only," couple of the tobacco colored woven squares have a seam crack to center, due to fold, and the natural inherent quality of wood or rattan, when it has dried, not treated, in maintaining the flexibility of wood and rattan pieces, which, in turn was given an unusual application or treatment by weaving and then wrapping in, under, over, and thru to create this checkerboard woven top. As an ex-Donghia Employee, we have reached out to few sources, to ascertain the exact name of this collection, as it was current, prior to my employment with the company, and as any Donghia-phile, an exact visual memory abounds when one comes upon any piece, thus and instinctively, recognizable as a Donghia piece. The collection was discontinued by the time of my beginning employment, and thus, there were residual pieces left within the Donghia Display Showroom, by that time of the collections discontinuation, whereupon the Newer Wicker/rattan pieces, aforementioned were rolled out, and continue to have an equally more following, for it's quality, and universal design esthetic, form and function at it's best. less
