This painting is of course influenced by the Masterpiece by Leonardo Da Vinci, but is clearly executed by a slightly less talented hand. The oil painting is done on a prepared oak panel that has been cradled. The painting appears to be 19th century, but may be earlier and just heavily restored as it appears the back of the panel was sanded down to apply the cradling.

Condition: Some losses to the oil and gesso on the front. The back is cradled and has some signs of insect damage, it’s possible it’s an earlier panel that has been sanded down for the cradling.
