Vintage: C.1970's, White porcelain, Blanc de chin, Original Jens Quistgaard design for Dansk International crackle glazed koi fish gravy boat, or saucier' server. The koi fish tail, in this case is the handle, in which to use for carrying and/or pouring any sauce's or gravy's, while the open mouth end of koi fish is the pour spout opening. Raised relief details of fish scales, fins/gils eyes and mouth, including slight ribbed details to end of tail, i.e. handle. A delicious accompaniment to any dinner soiree, party with the panache of sophistication and whimsy rolled into one. Maker's markings on underside of oval-shaped base, the has a minute fluted or ribbed detail. States Dansk International, and the manufacturer, and provenance country of manufacture, thus country of provenance, whereupon this and many times was produced for the export market for North America, and elsewhere. Dans has always solicited pottery refineries, potters, sculptors, and factories in the collaboration of manufacturing decorative accessories for the interior home design market. Sourced from a Naples, Florida Estate. WE forgot to inform all, the handle is not as conducive to a lefty, rather made as much of the older pieces manufactured in the utilization of right-handed people. Thank the Lord, there is consciousness for lefty's like myself.
