ORIGINAL E.F. CRAMER 'HARVEST' WHITE LINE WOODCUT
This is a great piece. I picked this up from a dealer I do a lot of business with. He bought this from a collection on Cape Cod and knows how much I love white line woodcuts. This is a stunning original print signed lower right in pencil "E.F. Cramer". Remarkably I have not been able to figure out who the artist is. The work is too god to not be by a professional artist. If anyone knows who the artist is, I would appreciate it. This is a stunning white line woodcut still life titled Harvest in pencil lower left. Image of a corn, eggplant, green pepper, apple, onion, and radish. Image measures 8 3/8 x 7 3/8 inches on complete original sheet measuring 15 1/2 x 10 3/8 inches. Print is in outstanding as printed condition. Print is taped at the corners into the original backing and matte. Bottom corners are no longer attached with the tape. Based on the work, as well as the backing and matte, I think this print dates to somewhere between the 1930s and 1950s. Really just a stunning original scarce work. This is one of those prints that I am happy to own until someone purchase it. I might even decide to take it down at some point and have it archival matted and framed for my home. If you are interested in it, I recommend going for it because you might find one day that it is no longer available.
