I recently picked up a group of art posters and this poster was in the mix. Not sure how it ended up in the grouping but I was excited to find it there as it is a wonderful rare and important India travel poster. An original poster promoting Banaras (also known as Varanasi or Kashi) in Uttar Pradesh north India featuring colourful bold stylised artwork depicting a temple and praying Buddha statue in the ancient spiritual city of Banaras with the riverside steps known as the ghats of the Ganges in yellow framing the right side leading down to the sacred Hindu River Ganges / Ganga showing men on a rowing boat in the foreground and two people standing on the embankment under the shade of a green tree with fish along the blue water framing the left side of the image, the title in red and grey lettering below. Poster measures 39 x 24 inches. A few edge bumps and small tears but nothing too bad. There are some minor staining to the white background but the rest of the colors are incredibly strong. Just a beautiful example. Do your own research on this poster. Priced out there for 3-5 times what I am asking. Dont miss this chance. less
