This extremely fine piece of Meiji work depicts a grand cockerel or rooster having its' tail feathers teased by a playful black and white puppy with a hen looking on. Foliage and red berries enhance the scene on the right side.. Signed & Stamped by the artist lower right.
The "ten" heaven section is correctly longer than the bottom section, the "chi" earth.
Hand painted scene on hand made paper with a gold/bronze 'silk brocade strip' at either end of the work.

Beige/tan coloured paper form the frame (heaven and earth) with hand woven silk jingyan (惊燕; literally "frightened swallows") hanging from the stave at the top. Roller is missing one end with slight tear where roller meets the chi area, zhoutou in good order.
A lovely piece of work that comes with its' own signed and sealed wood presentation box. There is some water damage to the box and the top of the scroll as can be seen in the photographs - see arrows. The scroll is priced accordingly.
This work could possibly be re mounted/cut (as per the second photograph) if required and framed as it is such a superb piece of art it is well worth keeping.
