The chair is sturdy but at the same time delicate because it has so much open space. I would not encourage a large man to use this chair on a daily basis. The gold on the arms where people have rested their hands over the years is darker and also shows a little loss to the gilt, perhaps from a ring hitting it. We call all this patina and character! less
