This Willem De Kooning rare vintage 1983 first edition Abstract Expressionist collector's monograph art book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection. the softcover art book is published by Abbeville press new York as part of the " Modern Masters Series ", printed in Japan in 1983, authored by Harry F. Gaugh. It features a monograph collection of the artworks of the Abstract Expressionist artist Willem De Kooning.
Willem De Kooning ( 1904 - 1997 ) the Dutch born Abstract Expressionist painter and sculptor is known for his " Action Painting " style artworks. De Kooning led the 1950's art world into a new movement known as American Abstract Expressionism. he was a part of a group of artists that became known as The New York School in The Mid Century including Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, Franz Kline, Arshile Gorky, Mark Rothko, Helen Frankenthaler, Hans Hofmann, Robert Motherwell, and Clyfford Still among others. Artworks by De Kooning are included in teh collections of many of the worlds most prestigious museums.
The rare out of print collector's art book measures 8 1/2" W X 11" H X 1/2" D, with 136 pages, 115 illustrations including 49 full color plates, and features double page color photos of the artist on the front and back inside covers. It is printed on high quality heavyweight paper stock with vibrant ink colors.
It is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age, use, and light signs of handling.
