This Pablo Picasso very rare vintage 1962 " Cote D'Azur " Mourlot fine art lithograph print large iconic custom framed landmark French travel poster is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The lithograph print poster is published by The Ministere Des Travaux Publics, Des Transports Commisariat General Au Tourisme, printed in France in 1962 in an unnumbered limited edition by Mourlot Imp. Paris. Published by and for The French Government : ED. 61/23, to promoted tourism in The Cote D'Azur internationally. It features an iconic artwork image created by Picasso in 1962 titled " Cote D'Azur, Henri Deschamps lithographer.
The Cote D'Azure also known as The French Riviera, is located on the Mediterranean coastline in The South of France. The warm climate and vivid colors attracted many famous artists during the first half of The 20th Century including Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, and Henri Matisse. All of whom left a strong mark in The South of France, both culturally and emotionally.
Pablo Picasso ( 1881 - 1973 ) was a Spanish born painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, poet and playwright who spent most of his life in France. He is regarded as one of the most important and influential artists of The Twentieth Century. Exceptionally prolific throughout the course of his long life, Picasso achieved universal renown and immense fortune for his revolutionary artistic accomplishments, and became one of the most well known figures in 20th Century Art.
The venerable famous printing house of Imprimerie Mourlot Paris was founded in 1852 by The Mourlot Family. It is known worldwide for its fine art lithography printing, and one of their most important contributions was to be the art poster. Mourlot became the place where posters were prepared and produced as works of art in their own right.
This landmark fine art lithograph poster is one of the most iconic and desirable of the collaboration and long lasting partnership between the artist Picasso and Atelier Mourlot who together would create many important art posters. An example of this same poster is held in the permanent archive collection of many of the most prestigious museums worldwide.
Beginning in the 1930's Fernand Mourlot invited the major master artists of the time into the lithography studio to learn the medium of printing together. Encouraging the artists to work directly on the lithography plates to create original prints and posters in limited editions. The results of this artistic collaboration between master artists and Mourlot became internationally known for their originality, beauty, and exquisite craftsmanship.
Like many other artists, Picasso fell under the spell of The Cote D'Azur in The French Riviera towns of southern France. He had a strong attachment to the area beginning first in Antibes in 1939, where today there is an important Picasso Museum. From 1948 to 1955 he spent a remarkably prolific period in the town of Vallauris discovering the medium of clay creating and incredible body of ceramic works. In 1959 Picasso lived in a castle in Vauvenargues, like his idol Paul Cezanne. Later from 1961-1973, he spent the last 12 years of his life in a beautiful estate surrounded by magnificent gardens in the hillside village of Mougins.

The rare out of print large format framed lithograph print French travel poster measures 27 1/4" W X 40 1/8" H X 7/8" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern matte eggshell finish navy marine blue wood frame molding with and attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is excellent " like new " very clean vintage condition consistent with age, very light signs of handling, and very light minor surface wear.
