A simply beautiful hand carved solid satin smooth rosewood plant stand/pedestal from the mid 20th Century - made in great city of Shanghai. The square tops rest above a pierced and decorated apron that has two carved 'running dragons' on all four sides. Supported on slender carved cabriole legs held in place by an ornate base stretcher. Older rosewood of this quality is getting harder to find nowadays. Classic Chinoiserie pedestals or stands for ornaments, vases, busts or ferns.
Bought from an old Chinese traders estate. Rosewood of this quality is gettig harder and harder to find nowadays.
