This Really is a Great Looking Original Antique Fireplace - Hearth Trivet. Circa Mid 19th Century. Most likely English in Origin. It is Completely Hand Made. The Base - Stand is Hand Wrought Iron - The Top is Solid Cast Brass and Handle is Lathe Turned Hard Wood that Appears to be Maple. The 3 Leg Hand Wrought Iron Base Allows it to be Free Standing but it Also has 2 Hooks Incorporated in to the Design so that it Could be Suspended. This Trivet had Multiple Purposes - Could have Been Used for Heating - Warming Tea Kettles, Sad Irons, Hot Pots & Pans, Cauldrons, Etc. on a Fireplace - Hearth Setting Etc. It is in Very Nice All Original as has Survived Over the Years Condition - Displays Beautifully. The Brass is Somewhat Tarnished. No Damage - No Repairs.
It Measures Overall Approx 5 inches Tall x 12 1/2 inches Long x 5 7/8 inches Wide.
