This Henri Matisse rare vintage 1993 offset lithograph print iconic French Modernist poster " le Bonheur De Vivre " 1906, is a very special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Modernist poster print is published by Graphique De France, printed in 1993 in France in an unnumbered limited edition for The Barnes Foundation. It features an iconic artwork image originally created by Matisse in 1905-06 titled " Le Bonheur De Vivre " ( The Joy of Life ), copyright 1993 Succession H. Matisse / ARS, N.Y.
Henri Matisse ( 1869 - 1954 ) The French born artist is known for both his sense of color and fluid aesthetic. Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Picasso as one of the most important artists who helped to define and influence radical Contemporary Art of The Twentieth Century. His mastery of the expressive language of color and drawing won him recognition as a leading figure in world Modern Art. Artworks by Matisse are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The original painting " Le Bonheur De Vivre " by Matisse, along with Picasso's " Les Desmoiselles, is regarded as one of the pillars early Modernism. The monumental canvas was first exhibited at The Salon Des Independants of 1906, where its cadmium colors and spatial distortions caused a public expression of protest and outrage. It is now considered one of Matisse's most important masterpieces and a pivotal artwork in the overall history of Western Art.
The rare out of print French Modernist poster measures 31 1/2" W X 27 3/8" H. It is printed on smooth finish premium paper stock with vibrant ink colors in a satin eggshell finish.
