Wonderfully well preserved cotton 48-Star American was made before 1959 by the Valley Forge Flag Co.There are metal grommets on the ends of the cotton twill border. It is machine stitched throughout.
A little history: In 1912, two stars were added, representing Arizona and New Mexico, bringing the total number of stars to 48, arranged in 6 rows of 8 stars each. There were thirteen stripes representing the thirteen original colonies. The 48-star flag flew from July 4, 1912, to 1959. less
