This 1940s Persian Shiraz Rug, woven by hand in the Shiraz region of Southern Iran, is a testament to the rich art and culture of ancient Persia (Iran). Dating back to the Bronze Age, rug-weaving has been an integral part of Persian history. The Safavid dynasty of the 16th century is responsible for some of the earliest surviving Persian rugs.
