This watercolor painting, titled "Canyon De Chelly," is a masterpiece by the renowned Santa Fe artist Howard Bobbs, also known as Howard Bopst. The work is framed in its original frame, measuring 36.75" x 28.75", with the visible portion of the painting measuring 28.75" x 20.75". The artwork is executed on paper and remains in pristine condition, free from any damage.
Howard Bobbs (1910-1984) was an influential figure in the New Mexico art scene, known for his exceptional landscape and Indian figure paintings, as well as his sculptures. He participated in notable exhibitions, including a group show of New Mexico WPA artists at the WIA art tea in Las Cruces, as reported by the Las Cruces Sun-News on October 27, 1946, and another group show of New Mexico painters at the Artists Alley Gallery in Santa Fe. His acclaim further grew with a solo exhibition at the Museum of New Mexico in 1948. In 1980, Bobbs' expertise in watercolor was celebrated in the book "New Mexico Watercolors by Howard Bobbs," which highlighted his mastery of the technique. His work frequently appeared in Southwest Art magazine during the 1950s and 60s, solidifying his national prominence as a painter of the Southwest.
"Canyon De Chelly" captures an iconic view of the White House Ruin, a cliff dwelling at Canyon de Chelly National Monument in northeastern Arizona. Bobbs' watercolor portrays the awe-inspiring grandeur and historic elegance of the ancient cave dwellings, encapsulating the essence of this significant cultural heritage site. The painting is signed by the artist at the bottom right, and the title and gallery stamp are visible in verso.

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller

Cancellations
