Extraordinary pair of Chinese Cloisonne beaker form vases. Graceful form with wide flaring 'trumpet' rim. Very heavy and well-made pieces with rich, beautiful enamels over solid cast bronze/brass. Each vase is fitted with brackets emulating a dragons dorsal fin which separates the piece into 4 quadrants. Each mid section quadrant has a unique design featuring red crowned white cranes in a landscape setting of pink cherry blossom trees, rocks and stylised clouds. The scenes are similararily opposing. Further bands of Ruyi, bell flowers and scroll work borders in shades of blue and red. These vases are designed to be highly auspicious.
The inner rim of the neck is most attractively decorated with a ring of ruyi in blue, black and red/pink and further blue lotus and two 'cartouches' of red crowned cranes.
Overall the main colors are light blue, dark blue, turquoise, pink, green and white.
A rare form with striking colors and designs.
Vintage, Mid-20th century. 1940-1960. They come with their own carved wood stands.
Condition is very good with minor signs of tarnish and finish wear at rims.
