This Helen Frankenthaler very rare vintage 1972 Mid Century Modernist limited edition hand signed " Spoleto " large artist's proof Abstract Expressionist fine art silkscreen print is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The fine art silkscreen print is printed in 1972 on the occasion of The 14th Annual Spoleto Festival in Italy on June 21st through July 9th in 1972. It features an Abstract Expressionist artwork image created by the artist Helen Frankenthaler titled " Spoleto ". The artwork was commissioned by the festival to also be used in a promotional poster print version with printed text on it promoting the arts festival.
The limited edition fine art print is an artist's proof. It is hand titled, and hand numbered in pencil in the lower left bottom corner " Spoleto AP 2/10 ", from the edition of 10. It is hand signed by the artist, hand dated, and one-of-a-kind hand inscribed in pencil in the lower right bottom corner from Helen Frankenthaler to the Founder of The Spoleto Festival " Frankenthaler '72 for Gian Carlo Menotti wish best wishes, for your festival ".

Helen Frankenthaler ( 1928 - 2011 ) is an American Abstract Expressionist painter of a liberal Jewish background, and is a major contributor to the history of Postwar Modernist painting. She exhibited her work for over six decades, spanning several generations of Abstract painters while continuing to produce vital and ever changing new art works.
Her work has been the subject o several retrospective exhibitions including The Museum of Modern Art New York, The Whitney Museum, The Jewish Museum, and The Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She has been exhibited worldwide since the 1950's, and was awarded The National Medal of the Arts in 2001. Her artworks are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The Spoleto Festival also known as The Festival Dei Due Mondi ( Festival of the Two Worlds ) is an annual summer music and opera festival held each June to early July in Spoleto Italy, since its founding by the Italian American composer Gian Carlo Menotti in 1958. The festival features a vast array of concerts, opera, dance, drama, and visual arts by many of the world's most famous and influential artists.
The rare vintage limited edition large format Abstract Expressionist fine art silkscreen print measures 29 1/8" W X 39 1/2" H. It is printed on extra heavyweight paper stock with vibrant ink colors in a matte finish.
