This diminutive cutie is a mid 20th-century reproduction of a type of floral needlepoint parlor footstool that was all the rage in the early 20th-century. This one is handcrafted from a hardwood which we believe to be birch wood finished with a mid-tone maple hue stain. The well cushioned top is covered in a pale blush with beige undertones needlepoint textile which we believe to be a wool blend, sporting a single floral center design. Thoughtfully constructed dowel reinforced butt joint for each winged corner Queen Anne cabriole leg adds strength and structural integrity. Each leg has a metal circular glide, on the underside, that allows for effortless movement of the footstool on a solid floor surface. This cutie measures 9” x 12” x 12” H/W/D; weight 5 lbs. In excellent condition with minimal age-appropriate wear. There is spot on the upper part of the circular wood frame that is slightly darker (see photos 8 & 10). According to my husband, who is a woodworker craftsman, this spot is due to the diverse density of wood which when stained, in this case, the grain of the wood in that spot stained differently which does not affect the stool’s beauty or utility. Maker is unknown. With all that said, this cutie will look marvelous wherever placed!
