" Born in 1828 in Germany to French parents, Elise Puyroche-Wagner First Studied at the Konigliche Kunstacademie in Dresden before continuing her studies in Paris and then in Lyon, where she became the student of the successful flower painter Simon Saint Jean. Settling in Lyon to specialize in flower painting, she married pastor Alexandre Parrot de Puyroche and along with her sister Adelaide Salles-Wagner, also an artist, held a literary salon attended by such Lyonnais artists as Theodore Caruelle d'Aligny and Joseph Guichard.
