It originally appeared in a French magazine of the time. It is original to the date and NOT a recent reproduction print. It features an elegant evening dress by Hubert Givenchy, an iconic name in couture fashion. Givenchy was best known for his creations for actress Audrey Hepburn. This design showcases a long black evening dress with a layered tiered voluptuous white wrap highlighted with a red long sash and red evening gloves. The design was illustrated and signed by Rene Gruau with his signature initial. Gruau was perhaps the most well-known fashion illustrator in the mid-century years. Known for his strong color and graphic line drawing, Gruau is highly collectible today. This image is pristine, with excellent color. Perfect for today's fashionista and vintage clothing collector.
