Offered are two papier mâché candle holder created and signed by Abelardo and Hector Ruiz and made in Mexico, circa. the 1970s. Known for the endearing "Big Eyes", the precise application of painted make-up, and the elaborate and embellished costumes, one appears to wear a kimono-like cape and cradles a white dove in her hands and the candle is held in a tall turban, while the other wears a similar patterned long cape. They are both signed on the bottom: "Papier Mache de Hector y Abelardo Ruiz - MEXICO"
The taller candle holder measures approximately 5.25" in width (4" in diameter on the bottom), 3.75" in depth, and 13.5" in height.
The second candle holder measures approximately 8" in width x 3" in depth x 10.25" in height. less
