A magnificent rare large original gold-leafed offset lithograph "Raz Bahadour and The Princess Roupmati" after 17th century Indian painting. In the centre of the composition one reads in the print the mussulman name of Faiz Allah, which is most probably a signature. The original artwork was brought in an album from India, at the end of the 18th century, by Colonel Gentil.
The lithograph comes from a rare first limited edition art folio published by Les Editions du Chene in Paris, France in 1950. Printed on one side. Tipped-in on an insert of heavy paper. Numbered "VII" at the lower right corner of the insert. Gold-leafed and very detailed. Superb quality, rich colors, and nearly excellent condition, 2 minor imperfections on the top of the lithograph which won't show when it's matted or framed. Never used.
Image 7.5"W x 10.20"H - nearly the same as the original artwork.
The original artwork is 7.6"W x 10.43"H, Bibliotheque Nationae, Paris, Cabinet des Estampes, Reserve OD44.
