Gorgeous Chinoiserie-inspired bamboo bench with great lines and timeless appeal with a slight nod to Chippendale’s Chinese style furniture, its transitional charm will complement any furniture look and style. It’s a beautiful well-made bench, both structurally and aesthetically, with out-scrolled arms that have diamond geometric pattern inserts handwoven from rattan and bamboo which adds depth and textural interest. There is one lower center English dovetailed drawer and two open storage shelves, one on each side, finished with fanciful bent bamboo rails. The frame, drawer and casings are handcrafted from solid bamboo and mahogany wood as well as thick bent bamboo poles; handwoven herringbone pattern rattan drawer and front sides; rattan weavers and stakes; inserts on the out-scrolled arms are handwoven rattan and bamboo in a diamond geometric pattern; drawer catch on the underside of the drawer prevents it from falling out. Color is a rich smoky umber with espresso and mocha undertones. We acquired this beauty from its original owner, so technically we are the second owners. It’s very much in the same condition as when we acquired i.e., in excellent condition with minimal age-appropriate wear. Maker is unknown but per the original owner, this beauty was made in Indonesia and it hails from the 1970s. It measures as follows:
