Manufactured in the USA in the mid-century period -- when furniture was still well-crafted -- the stool is solid and sturdy. It has been given a new gilt finish. We also found a beautiful teal fabric with gold embroidery to accent the giltwood. This stool would be useful in your bedroom, dressing room, walk-in closet, and, yes, even at your vanity!
