Vintage; Mid-Century era, Taxco Mexican hand-forged solid brass cordial set and serving tray, with inlay of abalone shell design esthetic. The set encompasses; 6 cordials, all inset with a abalone vignettes, within and on both sides of each cordial, but with a different image on the apposing side. The images are either a palm tree , sailboat, marlin, baby duck, and/or mother duck. The serving tray at first glance seems to be an asymmetrical tray, but squarely is a rectangle shape with a coved interior, whereupon the askew or asymmetrical shape takes on definition. The top, surface edge has a perimeter surround with rounded corners, and a defined, inlaid abalone shell pattern, throughout the perimeter of tray. Each cordial as well as the tray has the maker's markings engraving, as stated, Tia Pachita, Metales Taxco, Mexico. Quintessentially ensconced within an era, when family's, couples, and singles mingled or socialized within their home domains, with gatherings, parties, dinner, or cocktails hour, which was the epitome of high style, rather an art form in itself in social niceties. Incidentally Taco, Mexica is best known for their offspring of many metalsmith artisans, like Los Castillo, or Sergio Bustemante, a sculptures sculptor into eclectic curiosities, to forged dinnerware, silverware, to metalsmith jewelry, including famous artists, of the period, such as Diego Rivera, and Frida Kahlo, to name but a few.
