Born in Peru, Mario Agostinelli studied in Argentina, Brazil, France and Italy. Over the course of a long career, he exhibited widely and with success including at the Allied Artists of America, the National Academy of Design, the Butler Institute of Art, the California Academy of Fine Arts, Knickerbocker Artists and, in the 1970s, at New York's Berlin Gallery. Agostinelli was the recipient of numerous prizes and juried awards including the Samuel Morse Medal from National Academy of Design. He was also awarded gold medals from the Knickerbocker Artists and from the Salon Watercolor of Lima. The artist's work is held in numerous private and public collections including the permanent collections of the Academia de Bellas Artes (Buenos Aires), the Museum of Modern Art (Rio de Janeiro) and the Springfield Museum of Art (Massachusetts), among others.
