This Andy Warhol Foundation very rare vintage 1996 lithograph print custom framed iconic Pop Art poster " Shot Orange Marilyn " 1964, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Pop Art poster print is published by Te Neues Publishing Company & Te Neues Verlag, with the licensed authorized rights of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. printed in Germany in 1996 in an unnumbered limited edition. It features an iconic portrait artwork image originally created by Warhol in 1964 of Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe titled " Shot Orange Marilyn ".
This is a rare opportunity for true Andy Warhol and Marilyn Monroe fans and collectors both as this coveted image Pop Art poster print is long out of print and very scarce to find. The official " AW " Foundation seal of authenticity is printed on the poster twice, in the center top above the image and in the lower right bottom corner of the image.
Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, art works, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is recognized as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.
Warhol's " Shot Orange Marilyn " 1964, is from one of the artist's most sought after acclaimed portfolio series. The Pop Art portrait is feminine, bold, and iconic. The image is based on Gene Korman's photograph of the starlet, a promotional photo for the 1953 film noir Niagara. The bold coloration of the artwork recalls the saturated hues of the technicolor world in which Marilyn Monroe's career skyrocketed. The result is an inspiring exploration of the symbol of Marilyn Monroe as a Pop icon and cultural figure.
The rare out of print vintage lithograph print framed Pop Art poster measures 24 1/4" W X 36 1/4" H X 1 3/8" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern recessed beveled detailed matte eggshell finish cerulean royal blue wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
