This Bauhaus rare vintage 1983 Modernist lithograph print custom framed Fritz Tschaschnig large Stockholm exhibition poster " Kandinsky Color Seminar " 1931, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Modernist exhibition poster print is published by The Kulturhuset Stockholm, printed in Sweden in 1983 in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the exhibition. It features an artwork image originally created in 1931 by the artist Fritz tschaschnig titled " Farbenseminar Kandinsky " ( Kandinsky Colour Seminar ) from The Seminar for Color Theory course taught by Wassily Kandinsky at The Bauhaus School, poster design Hans Peter Hoch.
The relationship between color and form occupied the artists and teachers of The Bauhaus School very intensively in the 1920's and 1930's. The search for the right color as a design and orientation tool runs through the entire history of The Bauhaus. The two teachers Johannes Itten and Wassily Kandinsky and their students developed color schemes and color systems that are still valid today.
The Bauhaus Movement is one of the most significant cultural developments of The 20th Century. Walter Gropius founded this institute of design in 1919. Several renown architects served as directors of the school. Walter Gropius, Hannes Mayer, and Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe. Famous Bauhaus artists and educators include Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Laslo Moholy Nagy, Josef Albers and Anni Albers, and Marcel Breuer among many others.
Bauhaus was founded to explore new aesthetic perspectives and creative teaching programs for the education of architects, designers, and artists for a Post-War Democratic society. Today, The Bauhaus is embedded in the public consciousness, held in high esteem, and considered part of Germany's cultural heritage. The Bauhaus Movement holds a very important place in art history as the original Modernist art school.
Fritz Tschaschnig ( 1904 - 2007 ) was a German born artist who studied at The Bauhaus Dessau School from 1929 to 1932, and after the preliminary course, studied painting classes with Wassily Kandinsky. The study of the spatial effects of colors and shapes was created in his lass. As seen here in this composition, three basic colors and shapes played a central role in Kandinsky's color theory.
The Kulturhuset is a huge glass building in The Skansen neighborhood in central Stockholm inaugurated in 1974, designed by Swedish architect Peter Celsing. The building itself is an architectural landmark. It includes exhibition galleries, concert halls, The Stockholm City Theater, a cinema, library, conference spaces and restaurants. It is internationally known for its extremely high cultural and historical values.
