Handcrafted natural willow vintage trunk with spring wire hinged lift-up top and two braided handles, one on … more Excellent Pre-Owned Condition.
Handcrafted natural willow vintage trunk with spring wire hinged lift-up top and two braided handles, one on each side to make it easier to move around. Natural willow has been handwoven, in an over and under wicker weave, around strong bamboo poles which serve as the trunk’s corner frame supports. The upper portion of the trunk has a recessed lip allowing the top to rest securely on it for a snug fit. Raised decorative bands adorn the top and sides. Color is a rustic weathered white which gives it that European cottage look-and-feel; original golden willow hue still shows underneath (see photo 10). As seen in some photos, the spring wire hinged lift-up top has been propped open at an angle and is held up by a wall. In actuality, the lift-up top opens all the way for easy access (see photo 5). This beauty measures as follows:
Overall: 30” x 15½” x 16¼” W/H/D (width includes extended handles; 26” width excluding extended handles)
Interior: 24” x 13” x 14” W/H/D
Weight: approximately 10 lbs.
Structurally sound and in overall excellent condition with age-appropriate wear such as "chippy paint" in areas. It was handcrafted sometime in the mid 20th-century and it hails from England. It’s a chic and stylish solution for storing extra linens, toys or anything else that needs to be tucked away. If you’re limited on space this cutie can be fitted with a sheet of glass (not included) and serve as a petite coffee table with storage capabilities.
