Measuring 71 1/2 inches long (!) and 35 1/2 deep (height: 31 1/2), this desk stands firmly as testimony to the period (1910-ish) when "they knew how to build things right." It was originally stationed in a library.
It's got two enormous drawers which measure about 26 1/4 (long) by 23 1/2 (wide), 3 1/4 deep.
Perfect for use as a desk/work area, with plenty of room for a variety of projects.
This table was refinished a few years ago by San Francisco's premier furniture restorer (Baumar).
It's not been used in the meantime. The table seems to be veneered in mahogany, judging by the reddish color and tight grain. The bottom of the legs are surrounded by a plate of solid brass which measures about an inch and 3/8 high. These brass "caps" were taped during the refinishing and the tape was still in place when these pictures were taken (the last picture shows this brass "cap" with the tape removed and its antique patina). The antique patina of course can be polished to a high shine if so desired. less
