This box is Chinese export from the 1970s, and was hand painted in Macau as stated on the gold foil label on the bottom. It has a red-iron Chinese symbol and is not for food use.

The top of the box has a handle made of two gold metallic dragons facing one another. The entire box, both top and bottom is covered with an intricate hand painted metallic gold diamond pattern (very unique and painstakingly painted). There are four small vignettes on the top of the box in pink and beige scenes. The bottom portion of the box also has four different vignettes with birds and pink flowers on the front and back and pink landscape scenes on each end. Mid 20th Century Chinese craftsmanship at its best.

This beautifully hand painted box will add a splash of luxurious sparkle no matter where it is placed. Perfect for a candy dish on a coffee table or a display box on a bookshelf or mantelpiece.
