This Paul Gauguin rare vintage 1949 limited edition Postimpressionist French fine art lithograph print " Paysage en Bretagne " 1889, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The fine art lithograph print is printed in France in 1949 by Les Editions Du Chene Paris, as part of a French portfolio of limited edition Gauguin lithograph prints titled " Gauguin Peintures ". The vintage lithograph print features an artwork image originally created by Gauguin in 1889 titled " Paysage en Bretagne " ( Landscape in Brittany ).
Eugene Henri Paul Gauguin ( 1848 - 1903 ) was a French born Postimpressionist artist. Unappreciated until after his death, Gauguin is now recognized for his experimental use of color and Synthetist style that were distinctly different from Impressionism. His work was influential to the French Avant-Garde, and many other artists such as Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. He is also well known for his relationship with Vincent and Theo Van Gogh.
Gauguin's art became popular after his death, partially from the efforts of the famous art dealer Ambroise Vollard, who organized exhibitions of his work late in his career and assisted in created important posthumous exhibitions in Paris. Artworks by Gauguin are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The lithograph print plate image measures 10 7/8" W X 8 1/2" H, on a page that is 17 7/8" W X 10 7/8" H. The print is attached to the page with a method called " tipping " where it is attached by hand on the top edge. Behind the print plate image on the page is the title, date and size of the original artwork.
The rare out of print Postimpressionist French lithograph print is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling. It has never been framed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price.
