One of two rare late 19th. century antique Chinese carved panels, with a very high quality and expensive custom made frame of solid wood and a heavy iron Chinese style hanger. in keeping with the piece.
The old panel is enclosed in glass to preserve it. The carving is surrounded by an ornate 'floral and scrolled' edge border, and is rectangular in shape. It depicts Chinese armoured warriors, and their weapons storming the entrance to a fortress or walled city on horseback. A powerful portrayal and a window back into history. The panel was probably once part of a larger piece of furniture or room divider.
Purchased from a collector of fine Chinese art.
