Handmade in the Northeastern United States, almost certainly upstate New York, dating to the turn of the late 19th / early 20th century, crafted of richly figured tiger oak and pine

Commissioned for a post office, it features a functional purpose built utilitarian design that still today provides a useful variety of storage options and space.

Two-piece, solid wood construction, the rectangular cabinet features two large pull-out drawers, one fitted with divided compartments, projecting over a pair of recessed panel cupboard doors, opening to reveal shelved and slotted interior.

Topped with a tall rectangular wooden open shelf mail sorter, having three shelves with adjustable metal dividers, even retaining the original painted letters label facing.

A wonderful example of blended American country industrial, this counter mail sorter is sure to add authentic antique character, warmth, rich historical interest, and plenty of extra storage and organization to any space.
