Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, he studied fine art at Muskingum College in Ohio and graduated with a B.F.A. degree from Ohio State University. He spent three years in the U.S. Navy and then worked as a commercial illustrator for a Dayton, Ohio firm, Bergan-Patterson Studios. He then went to New York and did illustration for many well known companies including Reader's Digest, McCalls and Time-Life. less
