This is a large vintage carved chest. A Burmese, solid teak decorative trunk, dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1930.
Profusely decorated, with wonderfully substantial stocks throughout
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout
Solid teak presents rich caramel hues and fine grain interest
Protective, removable glass top for use as a distinctive coffee table
Stout top with gently rolled edge hosts a striking carved frieze with foliate medallions
Held securely with a large, engraved brass clasp to the fascia
Opens to reveal a generous interior, replete with lidded candle box
Through dovetail joints to the corners reveal the impressively thick 1'' stocks
Set of four drawers along the lower edge with foliate carved fascia
Fascinating pair of hidden drawers reside behind the middle two drawer fronts
Each outer drawer dressed with brass drop handles
