These Types of Utilitarian Stoneware Items Were Fired in Large Kilns in Batches with Many Other Pieces at the Same Time and These Types of Kiln Acquired Blemishes as well as Other are Quite Common. less

This Really is an Exceptionally Nice Looking Antique American Stoneware Jug. Circa Mid 19th Century. These were typically used for Liquids - Spring Water - Ciders - Hard Cider and Other Spirits. It has a Classic Sand Color Salt Glaze Exterior with a Beautiful & Artistically Hand Decorated Light Navy Blue Stylized Tulip Flower Design on the Front. The Decoration also includes the Number 2 Denoting its 2 Gallon Liquid Storage Capacity. It is Embossed - Signed by the Well Documented Lyons New York Maker "LYONS - LYONS" Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made - Intended For Everyday Utilitarian Use.
