Handsome vintage Mid-Century Modern to Modern aluminum dome pendant hanging light fixtures 5 available, selling separately & priced per hanging light fixture. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. If it’s something you can wrap your DOME around, then let’s talk about these awesome aluminum masterpieces… These are gorgeous Mid-Century Modern to Modern dome or pendant hanging light fixtures by Lightolier. We have 5 available that we are selling separately. They are comprised of a phenomenal, polished aluminum dome and collar with a white painted inner dome, cord, and canopy. The neck of the dome features ventilation holes which are not only functional as they release heat but the light shines through them and looks stunning. It will be incredible in your home whether over the desk in your home office, in a sitting room over a wonderful chaise lounge, or at a kitchen table. Two, three, or more of them would be marvelous down a long hallway, over a bar or island in your kitchen, or over your large dining table. And this polished aluminum finish is so classic and versatile it will blend in with and style while making an upscale statement in any room.
Lightolier was founded in 1904 by Bernhard Blitzer under the name New York Gas and Appliance Company. In its early years, the company specialized in fancy decorative chandeliers, then shifted to the high-end design and architectural markets in the 1920s. In the 1960s Lightolier introduced the first track lighting system, designed by the late Anthony C. Donato, which was a vertically integrated track, unlike the horizontal tracks of today. During this same period Lightolier began importing European designs, including that of Gaetano Sciolari and another notable success designed by Michael Lax known as the Lytegem series which has a place in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. They were also the first lighting company to introduce digital lighting systems in the 90’s. Lightolier is a Sustaining Member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, a founding member of the American Lighting Association, an ally of the EPA Green Lights program, a Partner of the Lighting Research Center, and is still a leading lighting company today.
