The fine art lithograph print is published by Editions D'Art Albert Skira, Geneve. Printed in Switzerland in an unnumbered limited edition by Roto-Sadag in Geneva on December 15th in 1946, as part of a 1st edition Swiss portfolio of Matisse lithograph prints from The Treasures of The French Painting Collection directed and presented by Albert Skira. With an important memorable essay in French language by Louis Aragon titled " Matisse : Apologie Du Luxe ".

The Fauvist lithograph print features an artwork image originally created by Matisse in 1906 titled " La Lecture " ( Reading ), this artwork is also known as " Interieur a la Fillette " ( Interior with Young Girl ).

Henri Matisse ( 1869 - 1954 ) The French born artist is known for both his sense of color and fluid aesthetic Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Picasso as one of the most important artists who helped to define and influence radical Contemporary Art of The Twentieth Century. His mastery of the expressive language of color and drawing won him recognition as a leading figure in world Modern Art. Artworks by Matisse are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.

The lithograph print plate image measures 8 1/2" W X 10" H, on a page that is 11" W X 14 7/8" H. The print is attached to the page with a method called " tipping " where it is attached by hand on the left edge. Behind the print plate on the page is the title, date and size of the original artwork.

The rare out of print 1st edition Fauvist lithograph print is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and light to moderate wear to the page backing.
