Vintage Divided Ceramic 8” Hand Painted Dish Plate Majolica Style K Maker’s Mark Japan 1940’s.
Beautiful divided dish featuring hand painted blue, brown and green floral details and basket weave rim made by Japanese Maker “K” in the Majolica style.
The Plate is in Very Good preloved condition with no major imperfections including cracks or repairs. There are minor signs of crazing and very minor chips on the underside of the rim and along one of the top dividers as seen in the photos. There are a couple of small places of misplaced yellow and green paint that appear to have occurred during the production. Originally, this piece had a bamboo or rattan handle to allow for ease in carrying and presenting.
This vintage plate dish can be used to hold tidbits, condiments, nuts, or jewelry. Its floral and basket weave design provides a granny chic or grandmillenial design.
This piece reminds me of majolica because of the raised basket weave design on the rim and the raised flowers on the face. The colors are vibrant and bright, yet overall it has a soft appearance because of the vintage cream color.
The divided porcelain dish itself measures 8 inches in diameter and is 1” Deep. It weighs 14 ounces or 397 grams.
