For consideration this lovely 19th Century French Louis Philippe style commode, rendered in speckled "plum pudding" mahogany with exceptional grain. A sumptuous example with clean lines and imposing size.
The top drawer conceals a fall-front leather top desk with dovetailed drawers faced in birdseye maple. Three additional central drawers follow, with secret bottom drawer compartment. The whole featuring banding detail on the dovetailed drawer faces and resting on front octagonal feet. One key for the desk, one for the three functioning drawer locks. Original St. Anne marble top.
Overall very good antique condition. Age appropriate small nicks and scratches, a few minor chips to the veneer. Cracking to both sides, but no loss of structural rigidity. Leather desk top exhibits more extensive wear as shown. Extremely solid and heavy.
