First look at the right front leg and how it seems to kick out to the right. I think this actually happened from some one sitting in it and leaning out to that side. Next notice the dark rings on the seat. In my opinion this chair was used next to a fireplace where the cooking was done. I think whomever tended to the cooking probably leaned away from the fire and probably lifted a hot kettle and placed it on the seat! Just a theory but it makes sense to me! The chair was refinished back in the 1970's. This collector, like many in the 1970's, refinished all of their chairs. Windsor chairs are typically made to have a little "give" otherwise if the joints were all solid or tight the joints would fail so what may seem to be loose may be but it might be the way its made. Chair is 33 1/2" tall and 17 1/2" wide and 16 1/2" deep. The seat height is 16 1/2" tall. See less

Also not the dark rings on the seat, I believe from a hot pot or kettle being placed on the seat at some point. The chair was refinished back in the 1970's.
