Chair has a raked or canted back … more Nice antique American stepdown Windsor side chair with a slightly unusual crest rail. Chair has a raked or canted back as can easily be seen in the side views. In the 3rd photo you can see there is a chip of wood missing and it was refinished over when the chair was refinished back in the 1970's. Chair has nice bamboo turned legs. Chair is from a small collection of Windsor chairs we purchased. This collector, like many in the 1970's, refinished all of their chairs. Chair stands 34 1/2" tall and is 16 3/4" wide and 18" deep. The seat height is 17". This chair was made somewhere around 1810 to maybe as late as 1830. less
