This Wayne Thiebaud very rare vintage 1989 lithograph print extra large custom framed monumental Pop Art museum poster " French Pastries " 1963, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Pop Art poster print is published by The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Smithsonian Institution. Printed in France in 1989 in an unnumbered limited edition by Graphique De France. It features an artwork image originally created by Thiebaud in 1963 titled " French Pastries ", gift of Joseph H. Hirshhorn, copyright 1989 Smithsonian Institution.

Wayne Thiebaud ( 1920 - 2021 ) is an American painter widely known for his luscious handling of paint, and brilliant color palette of works depicting commonplace objects that combined a sensuousness, nostalgia, and hint of melancholy. Thiebaud is associated with The Pop Art Movement because of his interest in objects of mass culture, although his early works, executed during the 1950's and 1960's, slightly predate the works of classic Pop artists. He uses heavy pigment and exaggerated colors to depict his subjects, and the well defined shadows characteristic of advertisements are almost always included in his work. Art works by Thiebaud are included in the collections of many of the most prestigious museums.
The rare out of print extra large format framed monumental museum poster print measures 47" W X 36 1/4" H X 1 1/2" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern satin finish bleached white oak wood museum box style frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age, very light signs of handling, and very light minor wear in the lower bottom margin text area.
