Very cool, mid-century, vintage, side table/nightstand, with a drawer and lower shelf/ magazine rack, on black, metal legs, circa 1950's - 60's.
piece is made of wood, with a striped mahogany-veneered finish on the top, and a teak-veneered finish, on the side panels, drawer, and back (see photos.) the frame itself, connects with the upside-down, hairpin legs that double as handles (one on each side), enabling one easily pick up and move it, from one place to another.
another nice element to this piece, are the middle sections of each handle, which are also made of wood, with a teak-veneered finish, which adds a nice touch of rich, warm color, in contrast with the black color of the frame and legs (see photos.)
the drawer comes with its original, brass-colored pull handle, (see photos), and all four legs have their original, black, felt, feet tips to prevent scratching a floor surface.
the brass-colored shelf below, is ladder-shaped and will be perfect for placing books, magazines, a decorative object, etc.
piece is in overall good, original and vintage condition, with some light marks, signs of age and previous usage commensurate with time, as well as a patina of time, on the overall structure, top and edges (see photos with a 1 cent coin for perspective), drawer, side panels, handles, back, lower shelf and metal legs, as can be expected for a piece of this age (see various photos.) some signs of age and use inside the drawer, and some slightly faded color on the handle (see photos.) there's a slight resistance when opening and closing the drawer, but it functions as designed.
please note: the two pieces of teak at the center of the metal handles, are neither glued nor welded against the metal, so they move ever so slightly. This is how they were integrated into the design. The table is solid, stable, and the perfect size to optimize space in any given room.
a great, retro piece of décor, that can be used as a side table, end of couch table, nightstand, plant stand, etc.
it has only been gently dusted, cleaned, oiled and waxed, with respect to its original patina of time.
