A sophisticated and understated silvered bronze chandelier by the renowned atelier of Georges Leleu, France @ 1930. This elegant fixture showcases a fluted stepped central stem that gracefully supports four curvilinear arms. Each arm terminates with a fluted bobeche, cradling a frosted art glass tulip cup. The meticulously machined design extends to the matching fluted canopy and is adorned at the tip with a finial featuring a cabochon of seeds. Symbolic of a lily of the valley, the glass tulips exhibit thin, linear blade-like geometric forms and small stylized bell-type flowers.
The intricate accents contribute to an atmosphere of tailored refinement bestowing the pendant with a sense of bygone-era craftsmanship and refined sophistication.
Designed by the renowned Parisian firm of Georges Leleu,
Leleu & Robillard was established at the turn of the century on rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine in Paris. This partnership persisted until after the First World War, when Robillard departed. The firm then carried on under the name Etablissement Georges Leleu until its closure in the late 1930s.
